The aim of the project, as part of an ongoing multidisciplinary collaboration, is to:
- Fundamentally solve the problem of missing analytical standards for new psychoactive substances (NPS).
- Identify the key characteristics of dangerous NPS based on pharmacological, toxicological, and behavioral studies, enabling their rational inclusion on the list of controlled substances.
- Fully analyze legislative approaches worldwide (regulation beyond international conventions: specific vs generic system).
- Create a database of major NPS precursors to allow future regulation of these substances.
- Monitor the online market for NPS.
- Identify metabolites of selected NPS and incorporate them into toxicological libraries.
