It houses modern laboratories equipped with top-of-the-line equipment compatible with a wide range of biomedical research. In view of the intention to study the neurobiological nature of neuropsychiatric diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and brain aging, the portfolio of instruments and methods includes scientific equipment for cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, neuropsychological and pharmacological research, as well as behavioral studies. The NIMH laboratories also have a modern histology and immunohistology unit equipped with a state-of-the-art epifluorescence and confocal imaging system, as well as a modern tissue culture laboratory. Research using experimental animal models of schizophrenia, affective disorders or Alzheimer's disease and other models of neuropsychiatric diseases is the main part of ongoing projects.
