The working group's projects focus on metabolomic studies of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases and neurodegenerative processes in schizophrenia. Furthermore, the identification of innovative targets for pharmacotherapy of mental diseases and proof-of-concept and lead structure selection of candidate molecules. Research also simultaneously focuses on the neurobiology of neuropsychiatric diseases using behavioral, pharmacological, neurochemical and molecular biological approaches. Significant research emphasis is placed on cognitive deficits in neuropsychiatric diseases. This direction of research helps the understanding of the neural basis of behavior as well as applied and translational outputs usable in the diagnostics and treatment of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases.
