Mental health issues pose a pressing societal challenge, yet strategies to address them are elusive. One of the reasons may be how these conditions are classified and assessed. Many limitations have been identified in current nosologies of mental disorders, which hinder effective treatment and promote stigmatization. Hence, emerging frameworks like Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) emphasize the transdiagnostic and dimensional nature of psychopathology. Emphasizing the interconnectedness of emotions, personality, and psychopathology, this multimethod project aims to elucidate the fundamental nature of psychopathology. By connecting novel and traditional approaches, the project aims to examine the structure of HiTOP in Czechia and across countries, explore the role of personality and emotions herein, and study temporal dynamics in a sample of at least 300 people. These insights may have implications for prevention and intervention protocols, as personality and emotions could become the main foci for improving the quality of life of people struggling with mental health.
