The STOP-CSAM project aims to contribute to the further development of accessible, evidence-based, and safe care within the EU for people who are concerned about their sexual urges towards children and who consume child sexual abuse material (CSAM). It is an effort to enable these people to access treatment according to their needs, to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse, and to spare potential victims from all the consequences resulting from this crime.

Specifically, the STOP-CSAM project aims to reach potential/actual offenders, refer them to a preventive online chat intervention and test its effectiveness. This online chat intervention will be delivered in 5 languages (English, German, Czech, Spanish, and Portuguese) and is based on the Berlin Dissexuality Therapy (BEDIT) therapeutic program. The project's second objective is to test a prototype of the online intervention through artificial intelligence (AI) in two languages (English and German). This would reduce the time needed for therapy between therapist and client. The AI will not work autonomously; the therapist will entirely control the interaction. The results and findings of this project will be disseminated to stakeholders such as therapists, LEAs, and policymakers.
