Zdeňka Bendová is the head of the Circadian Physiology and Chronotherapy working group at the Sleep and Chronobiology Research Centre of the National Institute of Mental Health in Klecany and since 2011 the head of the Physiological Adaptations and Biorhythms group at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Science, Charles University. Since the beginning of her professional career, she has been involved in chronobiology, especially in basic research on mammalian circadian rhythms and their synchronization by light. This topic has led her to applied research on the effects of light on circadian rhythms and human sleep, as well as to collaboration with the public sphere to find solutions to reduce light pollution in the natural environment.
