Mgr. Karolina Janků, Ph.D.
researcher and clinical psychologist
Karolina Janků works at the NIMH as a researcher and clinical psychologist. She gained a master´s degree in Psychology at the Palacky University, Olomouc. During her studies she spent a semester at the Psychology department, University of Groningen, Netherlands. Karolina then completed a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. As a part of her doctoral studies, she completed a research internship at the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute at the University of Oxford, UK. She won first prize for the best poster at the Oxford Chronobiology and Sleep Medicine Summer School 2018, Oxford, UK. In 2019, she completed her five-year training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT Institute). Two years later, she finished the specialized training and became a certified Clinical psychologist. Her main interest in clinical and research work is chronic insomnia and its treatment by CBT. One of her publications on CBT for insomnia has gained the Czech Neuropsychopharmacology Society award for the best publication in clinical psychopharmacology (title: Block the light and sleep well: Evening blue light filtration as a part of cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia).
