Ing. Eduard Bakštein, Ph.D.

Researcher and head of the Measurable psychiatry research group at the National Institute of Mental Health. Since studying biomedical engineering (Ing - MSc. equiv.) and artificial intelligence and biocybernetics (Ph.D.) at the Czech Technical University in Prague, his primary research focus has been objective clinical diagnostics in neuropsychiatric disorders through advanced data analytic and machine-learning methods. He investigates topics from single-unit brain recordings, through large heterogeneous datasets, to longitudinal behavioral data, collected through mobile applications. His primary goal is to develop new methods and tools to objectify and streamline diagnostic and treatment decisions, as well as to understand the mechanisms of serious psychiatric illness.
